===Redirect to a temporary database===

We need to temporarily redefine the logicals UPAT_EVAL_DATABASE and UPAT_SLICE_DATABASE.  Normally, the definition is

UPAT_SLICE_DATABASE = UCTD:UPAT_SLICE_CALGARY.DAT

Typically, we submit our jobs to the queue with an IPL script, so within the script we'll have to redefine the name of the database by adding lines such as
<pre>
$ def UPAT_EVAL_DATABASE SYS$SCRATCH:TEMP_UPAT_EVAL_CALGARY.DAT
$ def UPAT_SLICE_DATABASE SYS$SCRATCH:TEMP_UPAT_SLICE_CALGARY.DAT
</pre>
so that the results from the IPL evaluation are redirected to this temporary database.

Then, we need to extract the results from the database.  These results are provided on a slice by slice basis (at least with the UPAT data).  As user <code>microct</code> in a terminal window, we will again need to redefine the database and then run the program that translates the results to a text file:

$ def UPAT_EVAL_DATABASE SYS$SCRATCH:TEMP_UPAT_EVAL_CALGARY.DAT
$ def UPAT_SLICE_DATABASE SYS$SCRATCH:TEMP_UPAT_SLICE_CALGARY.DAT
$ run disk1:[calibration.util]upat_export_measurement.exe  ! give the measurement number and output file

Or extract the results from the temporary database with:

$ upat_list  ! choose option [3]show, give the patient number and output file, e.g. sys$scratch:myvalues.txt
