===Use a USB drive=== Connect USB to VMS system and format. Transfer files from the terminal after plugging in the USB device. $ show device dna Usually the device is dna1 or dna2 $ mount /over=id dna2 $ create/dir dna2:[microct] $ backup/log disk1:[microct]login.com dna2:[microct] $ dismount dna2 Transfer files back again $ mount /over=id dna2 $ dir dna2:[microct] $ copy dna2:[microct]login.com disk1:[microct] I'm not sure the difference between using
copy
and
backup
. You can initialize a USB drive using
uct_backup
. Or you can do it from the command line: $ set host 0 ! login as system $ init dna7: raw001/own=microct ! deletes anything on the drive $ mount dna7: raw001 $ create/dir dna7:[microct]/own=microct Or in case the directory already exists: $ set file dna7:[000000]microct.dir/own=microct $ dismount dna7: For manual backup of files, you need to mount the filesystem (without the /foreign): $ mount dna7: raw001 $ backup login.com dna7:[microct]/log $ dismount dna7: Return to Contents or Return to Main Page
