===ITK===

Get the software from http://itk.org/ITK/resources/software.html .

Unpack the source code (this can be in any convenient directory, usually somewhere in your home directory):
 
 tar xvzf InsightToolkit-3.20.1.tar.gz

ITK is built with cmake, so refer to [[#Quick_CMake_Tutorial]]   Here are the cmake options that I typically choose that are different than the defaults:

ITK does not install the VTK to ITK filters, and there seems to be no cmake option to request this, although the necessary files are in the source code tree.  Fortunately, they are just header and template files, so you can just copy them into place afterwards.  Something like this:

 sudo cp Wrapping/WrapITK/ExternalProjects/ItkVtkGlue/src/*.h /opt/itk-3.20.1/include/InsightToolkit
 sudo cp Wrapping/WrapITK/ExternalProjects/ItkVtkGlue/src/*.txx  /opt/itk-3.20.1/include/InsightToolkit
