===gtest===

gtest is google's testing framework.  Some unit tests are written with it.  Generally, it is not absolutely required, as you can typically build projects without testing support.  However, this is not recommended, as the tests verify proper operation.

You can get gtest from here: http://code.google.com/p/googletest/ .

Unpack it in the usual way

 unzip gtest-1.6.0.zip
 cd gtest-1.6.0

Build it it:

 ./configure
 make

We're not going to actually install it; that is not recommended.

Here is the [[#Scripts_to_Set_Environment_Variables|setenv.sh]] script to put into /Users/eric/source/gtest-1.6.0 after installing.
