=== Command-Line Scripting and IPL ===

Any scripts stored on the Scanco server can be run from the command-line as well. To access the command-line on a Scanco workstation or the Scanco server,

 1. Open the Scanco Application Center
 2. Click <code>Tools -> Console</code>

 NOTE: IPL is not installed on the workstations themselves and cannot be run from their command-line. 
 To use IPL scripts, you must connect remotely to <code>Scanco-Server</code> and use the command line from within your remote connection to the Server. This will be a remote connection through another remote connection if you are on the workstation through a connection to your personal computer. 

The Windows system has a newer IPL version, currently v7. IPL scripts on the new system follow a very similar concept from VMS, except they now only contain IPL-specific commands. Any operating-system level operations (e.g. setting environment variables for the IPL script to use) should be done with a python or shell script. Shell scripts are handy for command-line batch scripting, but python can almost always provide the same functionality.
